Jureeporn Pedking’s passion is to create art by exploring the relationships between a person’s identity and their cultural background that affects individual’s behavior and activities they indulge in. Her influence in art comes from her own personal experiences, and now she has an opportunity to once again experience strong Chinese culture at LHONG 1919, one of the most remarkable places that reflect the history of Chinese immigrant settlement in Thailand during the Rattanakosin period. Pedking’s artworks have been previously exhibited at LHONG 1919, and for BAB 2020 she presents Chinese: Place of Diasporas, 2020, a site-specific installation and performance art that embraces the stories of Chinese migrants who endured hardship and discrimination when they first arrived to Bangkok. Her day-long performance on the sewing machine represents rituals of daily routine chores that women who used to live in LHONG 1919 had to fulfill. Sewing connects the long Sino-Siamese traditions and bloodlines that still continue today. LHONG 1919 has sentimental value and means a lot not only to Pedking’s herself but also to the wider Chinese immigrant community.
Pedking received a Bachelor’s degree in Sculpture from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, and Master of Fine Arts program in Visual Arts Education, Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, where she is also currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Visual Arts

จุรีพร เพชรกิ่ง หลงใหลในการสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะโดยการสำรวจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตัวตนของบุคคลและภูมิหลังทางวัฒนธรรมที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมของบุคคลและกิจกรรมที่บุคคลชื่นชอบ ผลงานของเธอได้รับอิทธิพลจากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวของเธอเอง และตอนนี้เธอมีโอกาสอีกครั้งที่จะได้สัมผัสวัฒนธรรมจีนอันเข้มข้นที่ล้ง 1919 หนึ่งในสถานที่ที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงประวัติศาสตร์การตั้งถิ่นฐานของชาวจีนอพยพในประเทศไทยในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ออกมาได้อย่างโดดเด่น เธอเคยจัดแสดงผลงานที่ล้ง 1919 มาแล้ว และสำหรับงานบางกอก อาร์ต เบียนนาเล่ 2020 เธอจัดแสดงผลงานศิลปะจัดวางและการแสดงสดเฉพาะที่ชุด จีนนอกนา: สถานที่ของคนพลัดถิ่น, พ.ศ. 2563 ซึ่งได้รวบรวมเรื่องราวของชาวจีนอพยพที่ต้องทนกับความยากลำบากและการเลือกปฏิบัติตอนที่พวกเขาเดินทางมาถึงกรุงเทพฯ ในช่วงแรกๆ การแสดงบนจักรเย็บผ้าตลอดทั้งวันของเธอแสดงให้เห็นถึงงานอันน่าเบื่อหน่ายที่ผู้หญิงที่เคยอาศัยอยู่ในล้ง 1919 ต้องทำเป็นประจำทุกวัน และการตัดเย็บเชื่อมโยงประเพณีจีน-สยามอันยาวนานและสายเลือดที่ยังคงดำเนินมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ ล้ง 1919 มีคุณค่าทางจิตใจและมีความหมายไม่เพียงแต่ต่อตัวเธอเองเท่านั้น หากแต่ยังมีต่อชุมชนชาวจีนอพยพในวงกว้างอีกด้วย
จุรีพรสำเร็จการศึกษาศิลปกรรมศาสตร์บัณฑิตสาขาประติมากรรม จากมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลธัญบุรี และศิลปกรรมศาสตร์มหาบัณฑิตสาขาทัศนศิลป์ คณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม และภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ปัจจุบันเธอกำลังศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกสาขาทัศนศิลป์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งนี้อีกด้วย
