Our 47th episode of BAB Talk in collaboration with One Bangkok titled ‘Revisiting Dusit Thani in the 21st Century: A (Model) City for Democracy of King Rama VI’ will be taking place on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at The Prelude One Bangkok. The talk will feature BAB 2020 artist Assistant Professor Prateep Suthathongthai, together with Churporn Rangavara, Secretary of King Vajiravudh Memorial Foundation under Royal Patronage, and Assistant Professor Pirasri Povatong, architectural historian and lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. The talk will be moderated by Paphop Kerdsup.
The main topic is about ‘Dusit Thani’, a model city for democracy after the imagination of the King Rama VI, and ‘Ban Nom Klao’, a village in Yasothon Province that was built for the people of the Communist Party of Thailand who were leaving the jungle to end the armed conflict against the state. The talk will explore various angles of the two places, including historical and architectural aspects, as well as an interpretation as dream cities.

BAB Talk ครั้งที่ 47 เป็นการร่วมมือกันระหว่าง Bangkok Art Biennale และ One Bangkok ในการจัดเสวนาที่มีชื่อตอนว่า “ย้อนสำรวจดุสิตธานี เมือง(จำลอง)ประชาธิปไตยในศตวรรษที่ 21” ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นในวันเสาร์ที่ 13 มีนาคม 2564 ที่ The Prelude One Bangkok โดยจะเป็นการเสวนาของ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ประทีป สุธาทองไทย ศิลปินผู้สร้างผลงานในนิทรรศการชุด “ดุสิตธานี” และผลงาน “บ้านน้อมเกล้า” ร่วมกับ เชื้อพร รังควร เลขาธิการมูลนิธิพระบรมราชานุสรณ์ พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ และ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร. พีรศรี โพวาทอง นักประวัติศาสตร์สถาปัตยกรรม และอาจารย์ประจำคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ดำเนินรายการโดย ปภพ เกิดทรัพย์
ประเด็นหลักของการเสวนาครั้งนี้เกี่ยวข้องกับ “ดุสิตธานี” ซึ่งเป็นเมืองจำลองประชาธิปไตยในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และ “หมู่บ้านน้อมเกล้า” จังหวัดยโสธร ที่สร้างขึ้นเพื่อเป็นที่อยู่และที่ทำกินของผู้ที่เคยเข้าป่าร่วมต่อสู้กับคอมมิวนิสต์ในภาคอีสาน การเสวนาจะครอบคลุมแง่มุมต่างๆ ทั้งด้านประวัติศาสตร์และสถาปัตยกรรม รวมไปถึงการตีความความสัมพันธ์ของเมืองทั้งสองในฐานะเมืองในฝันที่เกิดขึ้นในบริบทและช่วงเวลาที่แตกต่างกัน
