Rania Matar

Lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Matar is a 2018 Guggenheim Fellow, and a 2017 Mellon Foundation Grant recipient. As a Lebanese-born American woman and mother, her cross-cultural experience and personal narrative inform her photography. Her work has been exhibited in museums worldwide, including solo exhibitions at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, but also at the Museum of Fine Arts/Boston, Carnegie Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Howard Greenberg Gallery, National Portrait Gallery/London, and more.
Her images are in the permanent collections of several museums.
She has published three books, and is currently associate professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
