Elena Knox

Elena Knox is a media and performance artist. Her works typically use robots in interactions with people. Concerned with the motivation behind narcissistic creations, she amplifies human impulses to totemism, idolatry, and fetishism in techno-science and communications media.
Recently, Knox has exhibited in Future and the Arts (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2019-20); A-S HELIX (National Museum of China, 2019); Synthetic Mediart (Taipei Expo Park, 2019); Lux Aeterna (Asia Culture Center, Gwangju, 2019); Algorithmic Art (Hong Kong City Hall, 2018-19); and Beijing Media Art Biennale (2018). Her latest solo shows are Volcana Brainstorm (Yokohama Triennale, 2020; Koganecho Bazaar, 2019); and The Female is Future (Gallery Hashimoto, Tokyo, 2018). She has been nominated for Australian Art Music Awards, ARIA Awards, and Los Angeles Underground Film Forum.
Knox is a researcher in Intermedia Art and Science at Waseda University, Japan. She was born in Australia and lives and works in Tokyo.
