Photographs in Below Three Feet (2019) by Kaung Swan Thar depict deplorable living conditions of low-income workers and their families living in ten-feet-wide, three-feet-high rooms under the staircase of rented houses located next to the Yangon Railway Station. The rooms have only one entrance and no windows. Tenants have to grovel and crouch in these dark small shelters. Despite their predicaments, they do not want to move out as it is convenient for them to find daily jobs in the area. According to Kaung Swan Thar, he was shocked when he stepped into the place as he has never imagined there are people living under such conditions in the downtown Yangon.
