The trilogy of films, END (2002–08) is a three-screen film installation that represents a selection of the works produced by Casas in some of the most distant and extreme environments on the planet – Patagonia, the Aral sea and Siberia. During the arduous research process where he lived for extended periods of time with people from what seems to be the periphery of civilisation, the artist documents disappearing ways of life, the collective imagination of these places and the inhabitants’ mythic idea of the end of the world. The remoteness and harshness of the landscapes, places and living conditions captured in the work convey a sense of abandonment, and of the “End”, presenting an archaic past while alluding to a post-apocalyptic future
