In The Promenade des Homos (2020), Shaowanasai addresses the rights and equality for Thai LGBTQ that coincides the 50th anniversary of the first PRIDE march in New York in 1969. To mark this historical period, Shaowanasai, in collaboration with a photographer, Aroon Permpoonsopon, made video interviews and a series of portrait photographs of the members of Thai LGBTQ community that reflect the multi-gender and heterogeneous society we live in. Shaowanasai said, “I’d like to present the idea that members of LGBTQ community are anyone those sharing the space and resources of the society at large. They can be good or bad, short or tall. The choices of who to love are the freedom for all of us to choose, it is a personal choices and it is 2020/2563 after all”.
ในผลงาน The Promenade des Homos ในปี พ.ศ. 2563 ไมเคิลพูดถึงสิทธิและความเสมอภาคสำหรับกลุ่มคนหลากหลายทางเพศ (LGBTQ) ชาวไทย ซึ่งตรงกับวันครบรอบ 50 ปีการเดินขบวนไพรด์ครั้งแรกในมหานครนิวยอร์กในปี พ.ศ. 2512 และเพื่อเป็นหมุดหมายแห่งช่วงเวลาทางประวัติศาสตร์นี้ เขาร่วมกับช่างภาพอรุณ เพิ่มพูนโสภณ จัดทำวิดีโอสัมภาษณ์และชุดภาพถ่ายบุคคลสมาชิกชุมชน LGBTQ ไทยที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงสังคมหลากหลายทางเพศที่เราอาศัยอยู่ เขากล่าวว่า “ผมอยากจะนำเสนอแนวคิดที่ว่าสมาชิกชุมชน LGBTQ คือใครก็ตามที่แบ่งปันพื้นที่และทรัพยากรของสังคมโดยรวม พวกเขาสามารถเป็นทั้งคนดีและคนไม่ดี ทั้งสูงและเตี้ย การเลือกว่าจะรักใครนั้นคือเสรีภาพสำหรับเราทุกคน เป็นการเลือกส่วนตัว แล้วนี่มันก็ปี พ.ศ. 2563 แล้ว”
